Fall is just around the corner, and with it comes crisper air and cooler nights. If you’re looking for some romantic date night spots around Pleasant Grove for the last days of summer and into the fall, ICO Mayfield has some suggestions for you, including a botanical garden, a unique dining experience, and the chance to step into a fantasy world. Let’s get started!
Ashton Gardens
Utah may be considered a desert, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have beautiful plant life, much of which can be found in the 50-acre Ashton Gardens, just a few miles north of Pleasant Grove at Thanksgiving Point. You’ll find 15 themed gardens, koi ponds where you can feed the fish, and a massive man-made waterfall. This free brochure can help you identify the 44 different species of trees you’ll see as you make your way through the garden.
Home of the annual Tulip Festival every spring, Ashton Gardens also houses the Light of the World sculpture garden, which features 35 statues created by Utah artist Angela Johnson to depict 14 scenes from the New Testament.
La Jolla Groves
The founders of La Jolla Groves say they were inspired to create the restaurant after spending time sipping lemonade under lemon trees on the Island of Capri. Located in The Shops at Riverwoods near Pleasant Grove, this restaurant nestled under the shade of its own lemon trees has won Best of State five times and was named Best of Utah Valley.
The menu at La Jolla Groves features starters, soups, salads, sandwiches, and signature entrees crafted by head chef Kyler Roney. Try the beef tenderloin medallions, which can be prepared with mango chutney or a marsala reduction, or the garlic shrimp scampi, made with roasted tomatoes and a pinot butter lemon reduction. And don’t forget the lemonade.
Evermore Park
No, we’re not referring to the Taylor Swift album. We’re talking about Evermore Park, the immersive fantasy theme park right here in Pleasant Grove, Utah. The park has featured a number of seasonal events since opening its gates in 2018, including the recent mythological fair known as “Mythos” and the upcoming Halloween festival known as “Lore.” Even when events aren’t taking place, Evermore has limited openings to the public, including their free summer marketplace.
The park also features its own standalone restaurant, Vanders Keep, which is open to park guests and the general public year-round. With an atmosphere inspired by Norse and Celtic cultures, the menu features some fantastical offerings such as Dragon Wings and Mermaid of Sker alongside more traditional fare, including bourbon and brown-sugar-glazed salmon, red wine and balsamic hanger steak, and duck breast au poivre.
