Originally the town was called “Battlecreek,” in recognition of the first battle in Utah between American Indians and pioneers.
The area’s most well-known annual event also happens to the longest-running community celebration in Utah. Strawberry Days was formed to remind locals of the strawberry fields that helped bring people together in the early days.
